He's My Father, I'm His Child

by Charlie Rogers

As I was praying one day the Lord begin speak to me and remind of some things. Sometimes we as believers have to be reminded of things. I don’t know how you are with your own children, but I’m sure you’re like me as I am with my sons and daughters (sons wives). I am always asking them what can I do for you, how can I help you? I always want to meet a need in their lives. Can I help with money, can I help with food, can I help with solutions to a problem? Every time I visit them in person or by phone I want to do things for them. I can never wait till the next time I can fellowship and visit with them. I’m sure you’re the same way with your kids or others dear to your heart. We always want to do everything we can to make their life easier and better, a more prosperous life. That is just how Shelly and I are with our kids, we love them and want to do everything we can for them and will always be looking to see if we can help in some way.

Sometimes we as believers have to be reminded of how our Father in heaven actually looks at us and toward us.

Matt 7:9-119 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! NKJV

What Jesus has said here is to show and promise that no matter what you need whether it be forgiveness, deliverance from something in your life, or a physical need, God is your Father, you are His son or daughter and He is here when you have a need of any kind. He wants us to have a good and prosperous life with every need met. Just like I illustrated above with my own children, He wants us to know that whatever we need is available. All we have to do is ask Him and believe our need is met.

Many preachers go around the country preaching about being a covenant man or a covenant woman. My covenant became an inheritance of everything I need or want from my Father and is available from Him to me.

Rom 8:16-1716 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. NKJV

Yes the Abrahamic covenant brought Jesus on the scene, He died for me, paid a price that I could not pay and saved me. Now I’m born again into the family of God, now I’m a joint heir with Christ. You can be a covenant man or woman if you like, but me, I’m one of God’s children. He is my Father, He wants to help me, He wants to meet my needs. It’s my believing that stands in the way of me having it in my hands.

John 16:23-2423 "And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. NKJV

Jesus is telling the disciples here in these verses that a time is coming that they won’t ask Him for anything but instead they will go direct to the Father with their needs and requests in the name of Jesus. That’s you and I, that day has arrived, we are to go to God our Father with our needs in the name of Jesus. I remember many years back I would be talking to Jesus about my prayer requests and every now and then something would drop into my spirit about talking to my Father, in other words directly to God. I later found out it was the Holy Spirit trying to direct me and nudge me into more of a relationship with God as my Father. Now understand when you speak to Jesus you are speaking to God and when you’re speaking to the Holy Spirit you’re speaking to God. They are one with God our Father. What He was trying to do was get me to go direct to God my Father and develop a Father and son relationship. John 16:23-24 above are some of the verses that the Holy Spirit my teacher began to bring forth to me to get this across. It pays to listen to the nudging of the Holy Spirit, He was sent to guide us in to all truth. Let me say one thing here at this point, I know I am not His Son as in deity, only Jesus fills that spot, but I am His adopted son, a joint heir with Jesus in the family of God.

So He wants us to come to Him with our needs, He our Father is wanting to do things for us. Just as I explained at the beginning of this teaching that we want to see our natural sons and daughters succeed, He our Father in Heaven wants to see His children succeed. We are talking here about a personal relationship between a Father and a son or daughter. Isn’t it wonderful!

Just as we do not leave our children alone without any help in times of need, no matter what the need is, our heavenly Father also expected us to need help. So what did He do? He had it all in His plan, He sent us a Helper the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-1816 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever — 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. NKJV

What a wonderful plan, He gave us Jesus who saved us and His powerful name through which to access our Father in heaven, and everything that the Father has which is ours through our inheritance. Then He gave us the Holy Spirit to keep us away from danger and pitfalls of the enemy, instead of being like an orphan in the natural without anyone, He sent the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and remind us of His word, and of what is right and wrong. He is also there to remind us of His promises that the Father has given us.

1 Cor 14:22 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. NKJV

Rom 8:26-2726 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. NKJV

He gave us that wonderful prayer language of praying in tongues to tap into the Holy Spirit and have a hot line to God that when we don’t know how to pray as we ought He will stand in the gap for us. Delivering us to God’s perfect will for our lives.

Jude 20-21But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. NKJV

Through praying in tongues He gave us a process which delivers us out of things in our life that are not good and we don’t like and delivers us into that resurrection power. Edifies us and builds us up in our walk of faith above those ugly things in our life, and builds more of a hunger for God as we are being delivered to the love of God.

Just like I talked about at the beginning that I can’t wait for each time that I get to fellowship with my children, our Father in heaven can’t wait for each time to fellowship with us. Whether it be praying in tongues or with the understanding in our native language or thru worship which we haven’t even covered in this teaching, God our Father is waiting on our fellowship. He wants to meet our needs, help us succeed in every area of our lives. Just as we care for our children as parents, He even more so cares for us! Call Him up on that prayer hotline and find out how much He cares.
